Nike was true to its vision of enhancing athletic performance when the Dunk was conceived. It was first and foremost a shoe built to give college players a competitive edge. The lo-profile soles reduced weight, while the shoe’s signature support collar spanned from the heel to the eyestay, providing added ankle stability and protection.
More than anything, people now relate to the Dunk’s myriad colors. Over the course of the last 23 years, the sneaker has been reborn in every colorway and blocking imaginable, giving Dunk wearers endless opportunities to be true to their individual styles. What better time, then, to get back to the basics - to the first “true” colors of the original eight schools they were conceived for.
Nike’s January 2008 re-mastering of the Dunk starts from those electric ‘80s roots - a time capsule reminding what they were first made for: college hoops. Available in the original eight colorways, these Vintage Dunk His look like they came straight from 1985, thanks to an aging process Nike initiated last season with the popular Vintage Running series.
The first stage of Dunk promotion will kick off on January 15th, the same date as the Tier 0 Nike Vintage Dunk Highs launch in Hong Kong. Similar to the Air Force 1 25th Anniversary official site, you may get all information about 2008’s Dunk from the following official site of Dunk.
